Job Description:
Position Overview: As an Assistant Housekeeper on a cruise ship, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of guest cabins and public areas. You will support the Housekeeping team in delivering exceptional housekeeping services and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the ship. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to guest satisfaction will contribute to a comfortable and pleasant environment for passengers onboard.
Responsibilities:
- Cabin Cleaning:
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining guest cabins according to established standards.
- Make beds, change linens, and ensure that cabin amenities are replenished.
- Vacuum, dust, and clean cabin furniture and fixtures thoroughly.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including showers, toilets, and sinks.
- Public Area Cleaning:
- Support the Housekeeping team in cleaning and maintaining public areas such as lounges, corridors, and restrooms.
- Dust, vacuum, and mop public spaces to maintain cleanliness and tidiness.
- Clean and polish glass surfaces, handrails, and other fixtures.
- Ensure that trash bins are emptied regularly.
- Guest Services:
- Respond to guest requests for cabin cleaning and services promptly and courteously.
- Address guest inquiries and concerns related to housekeeping services.
- Ensure that guests' special requests and preferences are accommodated.
- Laundry Management:
- Assist in the collection, sorting, and delivery of guest laundry as needed.
- Collaborate with the laundry team to ensure efficient laundry operations.
- Handle guests' laundry-related inquiries and provide laundry service information.
- Inventory and Supplies:
- Assist in maintaining housekeeping supplies and linens inventory.
- Report any shortages or damaged items to the Housekeeper or supervisor.
- Collaborate with the Housekeeping team to ensure sufficient supplies are available.
- Safety and Security:
- Comply with all safety and security procedures and guidelines.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Housekeeper or appropriate personnel.
- Participate in safety drills and training as required.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the Housekeeping team to achieve departmental goals.
- Assist in training and mentoring new housekeeping team members.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Environmental Initiatives:
- Follow the ship's environmental policies and practices related to housekeeping operations.
- Participate in recycling and waste reduction efforts.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in housekeeping or related field is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Good communication and guest service skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Flexibility to work long hours and on various shifts, as required on a cruise ship.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment is beneficial.
