Job Title: Steward/ess

Responsibilities:

  1. Cabin and Public Area Cleaning: Clean and maintain guest cabins, including making beds, changing linens, replenishing amenities, and ensuring cleanliness and tidiness. Clean and maintain public areas, such as lounges, dining areas, and recreational facilities, following established cleaning protocols.
  2. Guest Assistance: Provide friendly and attentive service to guests, attending to their needs, inquiries, and special requests promptly and professionally. Offer assistance with luggage handling, embarkation, and disembarkation processes.
  3. Restocking and Inventory: Restock and replenish supplies, amenities, and linens in guest cabins and public areas. Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages or replenishment needs to the appropriate personnel.
  4. Laundry Services: Collect, sort, and process guest laundry, ensuring proper handling and delivery. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laundry room and equipment.
  5. Waste Management: Ensure proper waste disposal, recycling, and cleanliness in guest cabins and public areas. Follow waste management protocols and maintain cleanliness standards.
  6. Safety and Security: Follow safety and security procedures, including knowledge of emergency response protocols, fire prevention measures, and reporting any suspicious activities or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including housekeeping, food and beverage, and guest services, to ensure seamless guest experiences and smooth operations.
  8. Hygiene and Sanitation: Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals, use of personal protective equipment, and following established cleaning protocols.
  9. Adaptability: Willingness to work in different areas of the ship and perform various tasks as required, adapting to changing schedules, guest demands, and operational needs.
  10. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, anticipating guest needs, and ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction throughout their stay on board.

Qualifications:

  1. Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service skills with a friendly and positive attitude. Excellent communication skills to interact with guests and team members professionally.
  2. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning, organization, and restocking of guest cabins and public areas.
  3. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and handle physically demanding tasks associated with housekeeping duties.
  4. Adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the ship's schedule and operational needs.
  5. Multilingual Skills: Proficiency in English is required. Additional language skills are advantageous, especially those commonly spoken by cruise ship guests.
  6. Hygiene and Safety Awareness: Knowledge and adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards, including proper use of cleaning chemicals, handling of laundry, and following established protocols.
  7. Teamwork: Exceptional teamwork and collaboration abilities to work effectively with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Previous Experience: Prior experience in a customer service or housekeeping role, preferably in a hotel, resort, or cruise ship environment, is beneficial but not mandatory.
  9. Positive Attitude: A positive and professional demeanor, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service and contribute to guest satisfaction.
  10. Age Requirements: Must meet the minimum age requirements set by the cruise line for employment.
