Senior Fixed Equipment Engineer

 Job Description:

The Senior Fixed Equipment Engineer will perform engineering services for all Fixed Equipment for projects, maintenance, turnarounds, and complex technical assignments to ensure safety, reliability, and integrity. Fixed Equipment includes but is not limited to: Heat Exchangers, (shell & tube and fin fan coolers), Pressure Vessels, Process & Utility Piping Systems, Power Boilers, Process Heaters, Piping & valves, Tanks, etc.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Provide mechanical & technical support to the area business team and others as needed including proactively identifying reliability issues, analysis of failed items, and recommendations of design changes to prevent repeat failures or extend run lengths.
  • Daily effective communication via email or verbal with the area business team, Lead Engineer, and others as needed.
  • Interact with assigned business teams to optimize performance through troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Take a multi-disciplinary approach to projects that involve a high degree of interaction between departments.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams and serve as a technical leader.
  • Mentor and provide direction to less experienced engineers & Co-op Students.
  • Provide technical support for the installation of fixed equipment related projects in the field.
  • Support the Turnaround organization as required including engineering package reviews, drawing reviews, and scope development during discovery.
  • Work with the area business team to improve unit reliability through maintenance work & reliability initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Inspection Department to perform the fitness-for-service evaluation of items identified by the ongoing mechanical integrity program.
  • Responsible for the management of change (MOC) procedures for all mechanical changes and projects in the assigned area.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP) and PSM reviews for assigned units.
  • Develop and revise current engineering standards.
  • Lead or participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis investigation.
  • Implement IMPACT and TOPS investigation action items to ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment.
  • Work with the maintenance department to cater solutions/repairs to optimize resources and costs.
  • Act as an Engineer on-call for off-shifts as needed.
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks, and support the completion of engineering packages/requirements for equipment repairs.
  • Provide Reliability Engineering coverage during unit upsets and outages and ensure good communication through accurate shift updates and shift turnover. Includes attending meetings and off-shift coverage as required.
  • Perform Engineering calculations including equipment thickness calculations, piping stress analysis, bolting analysis, etc.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Engineering experience is required. 
  • Experience in the design or repair of piping systems, pressure vessels & other fixed equipment is required.
  • Familiarity with design and construction codes/standards: ASME Section VIII Div I, ASME Section I, ASME B31.3, NBIC, API 570, ASME PCC -1 & -2, API 650 preferred.
  • Experience with SAP & Caesar II preferred.
  • Physical ability to work around dust, chemicals, etc. on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and consensus building skills are required.
  • Self-motivated, with strong adaptability skills, and the ability to adjust to multiple demands required.

 Salary Package:

$ 120,000.00 - 150,000.00 (US Dollar)
