Construction Estimator (Office Based)

About the Role

As a Construction Estimator, you will support the team with estimating and preparing quotations, while helping the team and the business grow. You'll review project documents, prepare take-offs and scopes of work, work out project costs, compare supplier and subcontractor quotes, and prepare draft client quotations for asbestos removal, hazardous materials, demolition, and strip-out projects.

What you'll be working on:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, hazardous materials reports, and tender documents 

• Preparing quantity take-offs and breaking projects down into work areas and stages

• Putting together scopes of work, methodologies, assumptions, exclusions, and clarification of questions

• Working out project costs for labour, plant, access, transport, waste disposal, hygienists, subcontractors, and other project requirements

• Requesting, reviewing, and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotes

• Preparing draft quotations for clients

• Keeping track of tender deadlines, submissions, and follow-ups

• Working across asbestos removal, hazardous-material remediation, demolition, and strip-out projects

• Working closely with the team to make sure estimates are complete and ready for final review

What we're looking for:

• Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 5 years of experience in construction, engineering, or estimating

• Construction or demolition estimating experience, with a solid understanding of estimating and project costs

• Someone who can read drawings and prepare quantity take-offs

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

• Strong attention to detail and good numerical skills

• Good written and verbal English communication skills

• Willing to learn and build knowledge in asbestos and hazardous-material projects

• Experience in asbestos or hazardous materials is a plus, but not required
