Our client is a major global integrated energy company. They seek to hire a Petrochemical Trader to be based in Shanghai and grow their petrochemicals trading footprint in Asia Pacific. The trader will be responsible for the development and promotion of the trading activities for the Petrochemicals desk in Asia, interacting with a wide variety of companies from traders, oil majors, chemical distributors and end users. The candidate should have ample, thorough knowledge and commercial experience in polyolefins of different ranges and grades (LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and PP). Additional commercial experience and knowledge in Aromatics (BTX) and Olefins (ethylene, propylene and butadiene/CC4) will have added value. Experience trading swaps and energy futures would be appreciated.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Comply with all internal compliance policies and procedures and with all external factors that impact the trading business (Futures exchange in China e.g. SHFE, ZCE, etc.)
• Report to Trading Manager based in Singapore and Global Petrochemical Manager based in Madrid
• P&L that include individual contributions & shared books with Madrid, Singapore and Houston offices
• Coordinate and promote Business development activities in all products
• Participate and take the commercial lead for projects in China that involves one or more polymers corresponding to the a.m. portfolio
• Coordinate with book leaders and traders from other offices
• Coordinate with commercial teams from other internal Business Units involved in the management of the commodities that fall under the responsibility of the candidate
• Coordinate activities with support teams (contracts, demurrages, back office, risk management, middle office) making sure all processes and activities of the desk follow best practices and procedures
• Optimize value chain for all the products

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• Master's degree in refining/chemicals will be valued
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in the polymers industry, at least 5 of them in a commercial or trading role
• Additional experience in other O&G fields will be valued (industrial plants operations, maintenance, safety, processes and plant optimization, product engineering)
• The willingness and ability to travel
• Experience in petrochemicals/polymers business development in Asia
• Strong knowledge of regional and international polymers flows
• Strong knowledge of Asia polymers regional and international flows
• Knowledge of olefins/aromatics interactions with polyolefins
• Knowledge in logistics and vessels operations will be valued
• Knowledge of refineries and chemical plants production worldwide

SKILLS:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
