Our client is a major global integrated energy company. They seek to hire a Senior Biofuels Feedstock Originator to be based in Singapore and grow their renewable biofuels feedstock origination footprint in Asia Pacific. The individual in this role will be accountable for building a biofuels feedstocks business throughout Asia, with a focus on waste-based feedstocks, to supply one of their new biofuels production plants in Europe. Initially the role will focus on feedstock supply and trading around the growing HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) portfolio.
Synopsis:
As a feedstock business developer, you will be accountable to help build a biofuels feedstocks business, with a focus on waste/novel based feedstocks, to supply our clients growing portfolio of low carbon fuels production plants; initially the role will focus on feedstock supply and trading around the growing HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) portfolio; long-term the team will also need to supply new and novel feedstocks to a growing range of low carbon fuels processes. Your specific focus will be to short term offtakes, and long-term structured partnerships with an array of feedstock suppliers to meet their growing feedstock needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will report to the Head of Bios, LPG, Naphtha and Petrochemicals Asia and sit within the clients Trading and Supply organization. You will work with and support a global team of deal makers, traders, business development managers, supply chain developers and project managers.
Accountabilities:
Build a material feedstock business.
Scope out and develop long term structural opportunities for feedstock supply in coordination with feedstock traders, with a particular focus on sustainable low carbon feedstocks for supply to HVO assets.
Support the development of optimized in-house and/or 3rd party opportunities, working closely with technology teams to optimize across the asset design / feedstock supply interface.
Develop logistics supply chains for feedstock supply.
Take early positions (co-processing, tolling, 3rd party trading) to be able to build a feedstock business. Work closely with trading colleagues to understand the details of Asian and European regulations, the impact on supply and demand balances, and develop strategies for optimal supply.
Work with the Biofuel trading desks to optimize the product slate of in-house and/or 3rd party assets, to generate maximum end to end margin.
Maintain and deliver a coherent, value driven, Low Carbon Fuels strategy for HVO Feedstock in the region, ensuring alignment across multiple lines of business.
Maintain a strong Compliance culture and adhere to the clients Business Principles.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelors degree in a relevant field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in HVO feedstocks (Used Cooking Oil, Animal Fats, Vegetables Oils, Advanced Waste Oils).
Experience of structuring offtake contracts and managing risks/exposures is essential.
Knowledge of trading risk management strategies is desirable.
Supply chain development and/or optimization experience es desirable.
Candidates will have a sound understanding of the Low Carbon Fuel value-chain. This should include a basic understanding of technical, commercial, and economic considerations.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
Strong knowledge of Asian market and capable to develop new business opportunities.
Strong communication skills and working in multicultural teams, facilitating communication flows.
