Commercial Insurance Sales Rep

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Distribution Representative Commercial Lines to join our team in Central Pennsylvania. This role involves fostering relationships with agency and brokerage partners to drive new business, grow distribution networks, and support commercial lines products in the region. The ideal candidate will leverage existing relationships and industry expertise to expand our reach and increase market share.


Compensation: $91,000-$100,000
Compensation info: Plus 5 Incentive Bonus (4 quarterly and 1 year-end) - Target Bonus: 20%

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and align existing agency relationships and books of business in Central Pennsylvania with NJM's business objectives.
  • Recommend, onboard, and manage new commercial lines distribution partners in the region.
  • Pursue upsell, cross-sell, and recapture opportunities with agency/brokerage partners.
  • Coordinate and present new business proposals to agencies and brokers, including NJMs optional plans.
  • Lead pre-renewal discussions with agencies for key accounts.
  • Analyze competitor plans with underwriting to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Develop and implement annual territory plans; monitor progress throughout the year.
  • Educate agencies and brokers on NJMs underwriting appetite, products, and services.
  • Attend Point of Sale (POS) meetings with agencies and brokers when possible.
  • Assist with contracting, onboarding, and, when necessary, terminating agencies/brokers.
  • Maintain detailed agency and broker profiles to facilitate effective relationship management.
  • Represent NJM at corporate, chamber of commerce, and marketing events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience and success in selling standard commercial lines products.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain complex issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial insurance products, rating procedures, underwriting practices, and industry operations.
  • Familiarity with insurance markets and processes for agency contracting.
  • Results-oriented with excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree (High School Diploma or GED required).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial insurance, including roles in marketing, sales, production underwriting, or relationship management.
  • Knowledge of the Central Pennsylvania commercial insurance market and agent relationships.
