Job Description:
As a Senior High Voltage Cable Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing complete cable system solutions for high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) transmission cable systems, including accessories, link boxes, fiber optic components, and grounding schemes. This role involves working closely with project teams to meet technical specifications and resolve challenges through innovative engineering solutions.
You will act as a subject matter expert in the electro-mechanical behavior of HV/EHV cable systems, supporting installation and field applications. You will also lead the preparation of specifications, proposals, and contract documents, working collaboratively with Sales & Marketing and Project Management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze cable systems and components to meet project requirements.
- Act as a technical leader, guiding junior engineers and assisting in their development.
- Work with manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to production.
- Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams.
- Lead R&D projects, including planning, budgeting, and logistics.
- Make formal technical presentations at industry forums and customer meetings.
- Promote safety in the workplace and ensure compliance with company safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in high voltage cable design or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards (ICEA, AEIC, IEC, IEEE).
- Proficiency with design and analysis software (Cymcap, Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Certification in relevant engineering disciplines.
- Experience with Visual Basic and other programming languages for coding spreadsheets and macros.
