Consultant Dermatologist & Aesthetics

Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Employment: Full-Time | Consultant Level

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Consultant Dermatologist with expertise in Aesthetic/Cosmetic Dermatology to join a well-established private hospital in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The successful candidate will provide specialist medical dermatology services while also developing and delivering a comprehensive range of aesthetic and cosmetic dermatology treatments.

Key Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent recognised medical degree
  • Postgraduate qualification in Dermatology – MD, DNB, PGD or equivalent
  • Formal training/certification in Aesthetic Medicine or Cosmetic Dermatology
  • Minimum 5 years' post-specialisation experience
  • Strong experience in both medical and procedural dermatology
  • Experience with lasers, injectables and advanced aesthetic procedures is highly desirable
  • Strong patient consultation, communication and clinical leadership skills

Key Responsibilities

The Consultant will diagnose and manage a broad range of dermatological conditions, including:

  • Chronic and acute skin conditions
  • Skin infections and allergies
  • Autoimmune skin disorders
  • Pigmentation disorders
  • Other medical dermatology conditions

The role will also involve providing aesthetic treatments within the candidate's recognised training and scope of practice, including:

  • Laser treatments for hair removal, pigmentation, vascular conditions and skin rejuvenation
  • Botox/neuromodulator treatments
  • Dermal fillers
  • Chemical peels
  • PRP and mesotherapy
  • Skin-tightening procedures
  • Non-invasive body/skin contouring treatments

The Consultant will assess patients, develop individual treatment plans, obtain informed consent and provide appropriate post-procedure care and complication management.

Clinical Leadership

The successful candidate will also:

  • Train and support nursing and allied healthcare staff
  • Participate in CME, clinical audits and quality improvement programmes
  • Assist with the development of clinical protocols and SOPs
  • Support the safe operation and maintenance of dermatology and aesthetic equipment
  • Maintain high standards of infection control, occupational health and patient safety
  • Contribute to improvements in dermatology and aesthetic clinic services
  • Participate in corporate healthcare, outreach and health-promotion activities when required
