Job Title: Project Manager - Naval Navigation Systems
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and lead an interdisciplinary group of software developers and engineers specializing in naval navigation systems. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) or Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) within the maritime industry. Additionally, the candidate must hold an active Secret Security Clearance to facilitate seamless coordination with classified projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and manage a multidisciplinary team of software developers and engineers specializing in electrical and mechanical systems.
2. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of complex naval navigation systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, aligning them with client requirements and industry standards.
4. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential project setbacks and ensure successful project delivery.
5. Monitor and ensure compliance with security protocols and clearance requirements for all project-related activities and communications.
6. Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development among team members.
7. Act as a point of contact for client communication, providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations effectively.
8. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs to enhance the team's technical capabilities.
9. Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to incorporate best practices into project management methodologies.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 7 years of experience in managing complex projects in the maritime industry, with a focus on naval navigation systems, ECDIS, or GNSS.
3. Proven experience in leading and coordinating interdisciplinary teams, including software developers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers.
4. Active Secret Security Clearance is mandatory.
5. Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices, with a demonstrated track record of successful project deliveries within stipulated timelines and budgets.
6. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal teams and clients, ensuring a clear understanding of project requirements and expectations.
7. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and industry guidelines related to naval navigation systems and security protocols.
8. Proficiency in project management tools and software for efficient project planning, tracking, and reporting.
9. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
