Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Guide, support and facilitate ownership, implementation and improvement of HSSE requirements including workplace safety, personal safety, asset integrity and management of health, security and environmental hazards
  • Assist and assure contractors compliance to HSSE plan & program
  • Ensure implementation of the risk management process at Companies locations
  • Register all incidents in Companies incident database, perform investigations, contribute to Contractors investigations to understand the causes and influencing factors
  • Manage HSSE & SP Performance Reporting and Assurance process, custodian of HSSE performance scorecard, tracking of trends, analysis of HSSE & SP data
  • Manage the tracking of HSSE actions and providing input to management for status and closure update on actions arising from incidents, audits and HSSE improvement plans
  • Carry out and document routine HSSE inspections and facilitate weekly, monthly management of HSSE tours
  • Plan and carry out routine site visits, HSSE coordination meetings with all contractors, participate in routine coordination meetings with construction as well as O&M
  • Ensure that Contractors training and awareness programs are carried out as planned
  • Conduct and deliver HSSE Induction and awareness sessions
  • Review Method Statements including risk assessments, JSA etc. and ensure that contractors involve workers in Job Safety Analyses
  • Liaison with regard to social aspects with SP (Social Performance) Manager and assist with monitoring of contractors implementation of social & environmental requirements
  • Lead HSSE resources of EPC contractors
  • Support implementation of improvement programs such as Life Saving Rules, Emergency Response, HSSE training programs, Safety Leadership, Safety Supervision Program, Worksite Hazard Management and control of work
  • Actively participate in HSSE audits, training and incident investigations
  • Provide support for monitoring and evaluation of HSSE related legal compliance

Requirements

  • Engineering Diploma/Graduate with adequate HSSE qualifications/accreditation
  • At least 5+ years of work experience as HSSE professional in renewable energy/Oil & Gas /power sector utilities/consulting firms etc. preferably having both onshore solar and wind experience
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter with a can do attitude
  • Able to work with limited supervision and deliver results within challenging deadlines and under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills, analytical skills and emotional stability
  • Experience in delivering HSSE training, performing HSSE audits and incident investigation
  • Meeting the qualification requirements of Safety Officer as required by local law will be an added advantage
