Offshore Structural Material Engineer

 Job Description:

REQUIRED WORKING SKILLS/QUALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION

  • University Graduate with on Technical Major
  • More than 10 years in a similar position or similar field
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of metallurgy and materials science. Basic knowledge of main
  • metallic (and non-metallic) materials used in the Oil and Gas sectors, their chemical, physical, and mechanical properties, their applicability, and limitations.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes of products used in the Oil and Gas sectors in different materials, such as steel making, hot and cold forming, heat treatment, welding, and finishing operations and their influence on final mechanical and corrosion resistance properties.
  • Basic knowledge of materials suppliers in the Oil and Gas sectors, their capabilities, and limitations. Ability to review suppliers' offers, perform technical alignments and evaluations, and participate in technical meetings. Knowledge of materials destructive and non-destructive test methods used during product manufacturing, their applicability, and limitations.
  • Knowledge of main applicable industry materials, international standards, and codes (such as ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, DNVGL, etc.) and ability to analyze Clients Specifications and standards.
  • Basic knowledge of coating engineering, corrosion, and protection would be an added value.
  • Basic knowledge of welding engineering and techniques would be an added value.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTIONS

  • Take charge of project specifications for structural materials.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions based on Tekla 3D Model and other Material take-offs and accounting for material utilization and contingencies for scraps.
  • Perform technical evaluation of vendor offers.
  • Prepare Technical Queries and/or Deviation Requests for acceptance of alternative materials.
  • Evaluate and accept non-conformities issued by vendors.
