Geologist
Job Description:
Connect Energy partners with a marine technology company to look for a GEOLOGIST for their upcoming project in Malaysia.
Responsibilities:
- Provide geologic assistance and advise the subsurface team
- Build storage sites ranking
- Understanding of geological formations can be used to store CO2.
- Identification of potential reservoir and seal identified, evaluated and characterized for their CO2 storage.
- Capable to map potential storage sites and calculate the storage capacity
- Prepare geological development of basin (age, formation groups and aquifer), structural framework as well as geological description for each formation.
- Determine storage potential in saline aquifers, abandoned / depleted oil and gas fields as well as producing fields
- Build Geological understanding of the basin
- Knowledge of geologic principles and techniques as per Storage Development Plan (SDP)
- To interpret various log data, generate geologic cross section
- To integrate of geologic data into subsurface static and dynamic models including seal, fault, and overburden analysis
- To have knowledge of static models to work with geo-modeler to make adjustment to static and dynamic models
- To perform broad geologic knowledge for inter disciplinary integration
- Generate workflow and characterization of aquifers and structures in terms of reservoir quality, sealing quality, other lead risk, data coverage
- Assess the suitability of the geological formations for CO2 storage to identify in a systematic way which area are prospective in terms of large scale storage for CO2.
- Each potential reservoir and seal identified, evaluated and characterized for their CO2 storage
- Map potential storage sites, and calculate the storage
- Prepare geological development of Sarawak, structural framework as well as geological description for each formation
- Evaluate aquifers' reservoir quality and presence of relevant sealing formation
- Determine which area that may have relevant storage potential in terms of depth, capacity, injectivity
- Prepare structural maps and thickness maps of the aquifers to calculate pore volumes
- Determine storage potential in saline aquifers, abandoned / depleted oil and gas fields as well as producing fields
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineer / Geology or equivalent.
- Min. 15 years experience as geologist in oil and gas industry
- Min. 5 years experience in CCS projects
- Involved at least 3 CCS geomechanics modelling projects
- Past experience in Sarawak an advantage
- Willing to take on 12 months contract.
