Telecom Commissioning Technician

 Job Description:

Under the supervision by the Senior Technician /Field Engineers to perform a variety of commissioning activities on process, topsides, marine and turret systems. 

To demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies and work methods, associated with assigned duties to commission and maintain telecommunication equipment and to perform other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly and follow oral and written instructions
  • Understand the need for and adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock Out Tag Out Procedures and follow safe working practices
  • Have a sound knowledge in the function and use of various test equipment to perform condition monitoring on machinery during commissioning
  • Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project drawings such as General Arrangement Drawings, BLD's, Wiring Diagrams, IO Lists, vendor manual and schematics etc
  • Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project documentation such as the MC/PC procedure, Tagging Procedure, Punchlist Procedure, AS Built Procedure, Vendor Manuals etc
  • Install, inspect, calibrate, commission, maintain and troubleshoot all telecoms designated equipment
  • Compete all relevant project documentation including knowledge of CMS/PIMS ie. Completion of Mechanical Completion and Pre-Commissioning checksheets
  • Have a sound understanding of certified equipment and hazardous areas
  • Pre-commission and commission Telecoms systems such as PA/GA, Telephone VOIP/LAN, Radio, CCTV, Meteorological, TV, and Navigation
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow workers and vendors
  • Assist in providing training for less experienced personnel
  • Good timekeeping practices

Requirements

  • NITEC / Diploma in telecommunication of equivalent
  • Min. 5 years experience in commissioning for FPSO projects
  • Contract between 3 - 12 months
