Our client is seeking an experienced Equipment Installation Crew Lead to oversee field installation crews for industrial processing equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on welding skills, and the ability to lead crews safely and efficiently at customer sites across the Midwest, with occasional travel to Canada and Central America. Travel is extensive (approximately 75%), with remaining time spent onsite in Jordan, MN or taken as unpaid time off.

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday (Day Shift) | Weekends as Needed

Responsibilities:

Crew Leadership & Field Operations

  • Lead and supervise field installation crews during equipment installation projects.
  • Assign daily tasks, coordinate work activities, and ensure safe work practices.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, internal teams, and management regarding schedules, progress, and project needs.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Set project milestones and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Verify delivery of required materials and parts to job sites.
  • Track and report crew hours for payroll and project cost tracking.
  • Plan equipment, tools, and personnel requirements for each project.

Mechanical & Welding Work

  • Perform hands-on installation work, including welding, cutting, grinding, and equipment assembly.
  • Train crew members on proper use of welders, torches, plasma cutters, pneumatic tools, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  • Maintain and manage crew toolboxes, including inventory, repairs, and replacements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety rules and ensure compliance with company and customer safety programs.
  • Promote a culture of safety and mentor new crew members on safe work practices.

Equipment Operation

  • Read and interpret blueprints and installation drawings accurately.
  • Operate and train others on forklifts, manlifts, and other installation equipment.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Prior crew lead or supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on welding skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75%), including weekends.
  • Ability to read blueprints and operate heavy equipment (forklifts, manlifts, etc.)
  • Ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments (heights, confined spaces, awkward positions)
  • 5+ years of field installation experience in industrial or mechanical environments.
  • All education levels will be considered; equivalent practical experience is fully acceptable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Welding certifications.
  • Forklift or aerial lift certifications.
  • Experience installing industrial processing or manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working in small, fast-paced industrial or machinery companies.

Work Environment:

  • Travel-heavy role with frequent overnight stays.
  • Industrial job sites with varying conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and physically demanding tasks.
