Our client is seeking a Junior Metallurgist to support mill operations, metallurgical performance, and assay lab quality. This role is ideal for someone with hands‑on experience in mineral processing who is ready to contribute to production optimization, test work, and data‑driven decision‑making. The site is located within driving distance of outdoor recreation areas, lakes, and major regional cities.

The Junior Metallurgist supports daily plant operations by monitoring metallurgical performance, conducting sampling and test work, maintaining QA/QC standards, and assisting operations personnel. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient, safe, and consistent production.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain chemical inventory for the assay lab.
  • Compile and distribute daily metallurgical reports.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and operational policies.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion in daily responsibilities.
  • Provide technical support to operators, millwrights, and lab technicians.
  • Stay current with industry practices, technologies, and process innovations.
  • Monitor mill performance and identify opportunities to maintain or increase production.
  • Design and oversee plant sampling surveys; analyze results and prepare recommendations.
  • Manage quality assurance and quality control processes for the assay lab and mill operations.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and recommend improvements using sound engineering principles.
  • Conduct metallurgical test work on ore bodies, reagents, and process variables to optimize recovery.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in metallurgy or mineral processing.
  • Working knowledge of flotation, gravity separation, and/or magnetic separation.
  • Strong ability to interpret data, analyze performance metrics, and prepare technical reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
