Our client is seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst to support accurate and timely payroll tax filings, deposits, and reconciliations for U.S. and Canadian payroll operations across multiple legal entities. This role works with Workday, ADP Smart Compliance, and Excel to manage payroll tax activities, research tax notices, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and provincial regulations.

Work Model: Hybrid | Onsite 2–3 days per week (approximately 9–10 days/month)

Location: Candidates must reside within a reasonable daily commuting distance (up to 35 minutes | Local Louisville-area candidates are strongly preferred

Requirements:

  • Prepare amended returns as needed.
  • Manage payroll tax funding each pay cycle using Workday.
  • Research and resolve payroll tax notices through ADP Smart Compliance.
  • Conduct audits, reconciliations, and remittances to ensure compliance.
  • Stay current on payroll tax regulations using industry resources and publications.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and tax authorities to resolve issues.
  • Follow established SOPs and internal controls to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and file U.S. payroll tax returns, deposits, and reconciliations (Federal, State, Local)
  • Support Canadian payroll tax activities including Federal and Provincial filings (CPP, EI, etc.)
  • Perform multi‑state payroll tax analysis and ensure accurate reporting to tax authorities.
  • Assist with year‑end activities including W‑2, T‑4, and RL‑1 preparation, corrections, and reconciliations.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, data analysis, reporting)
  • Ability to research tax issues and interpret regulatory guidance.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll for tax processing and funding.
  • 3+ years of payroll tax experience in a corporate or multi‑entity environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Federal, State, and Local payroll tax compliance.
  • Proficiency with ADP Smart Compliance for filings, deposits, and notice resolution.
  • Experience performing payroll tax reconciliations and responding to tax authority notices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to Canadian payroll tax (Federal and Provincial)
  • Experience supporting year‑end payroll tax processes.
  • Certifications such as CPP, FPC, PCP, or CPM are a plus.
