Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating machines and related equipment at customer sites across the U.S. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, extensive travel, and the ability to deliver excellent customer service. When not traveling, the engineer provides remote technical support and prepares documentation and reports.

Requirements:

Equipment Installation, Maintenance & Repair

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and best practices.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control‑related issues.
  • Respond to emergency service requests and minimize customer downtime.
  • Install PVD coating machines, cleaning systems, and peripheral equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to company standards.

Customer Training

  • Prepare and update training materials and documentation.
  • Deliver hands‑on training on machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Service Visit Coordination

  • Independently schedule and coordinate service visits.
  • Communicate scope, timing, and requirements to customers.
  • Keep internal teams informed of upcoming service activities.

Remote Technical Support

  • Document remote support activities and resolutions.
  • Provide troubleshooting via phone, email, or remote‑access tools.

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Record all service activities in company reporting/ticketing systems.
  • Share technical updates with colleagues to support team knowledge.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of service procedures and workflows.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety regulations and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Stay current on PVD technology, safety standards, and industry trends.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to travel 70–80% (primarily U.S.; occasional Canada/Mexico)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working with PVD coating machines or similar industrial equipment.
  • 3+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing PVD coating equipment or comparable industrial machinery in customer environments.

  • Experience training customers or end‑users.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, thin‑film deposition, or high‑precision industrial equipment.
