Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all site‑level accounting, financial reporting, and FP&A activities for a growing mining and industrial operation. This is a hands‑on, fully onsite role supporting both an established underground mining operation and a rapidly developing graphite project. The Controller partners closely with site leadership and corporate finance to ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous improvement across financial processes.

This environment is non‑corporate, collaborative, and operationally focused. The ideal candidate thrives in a plant/mine‑site setting, works closely with operations, and is comfortable owning the full financial function end‑to‑end.

Requirements:

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and cost controls.
  • Manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements, compliance reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records and manage capital project capitalization.
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, cost accounting, and financial reporting.

FP&A, Budgeting & Analysis

  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and decision‑support analysis.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Analyze actuals vs. budget/forecast and provide insights to site and corporate leadership.

Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and site‑level procedures.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and support SOX‑related processes.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.

Systems, ERP & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead ERP system selection, implementation, and optimization for the site.
  • Improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support transition from QuickBooks to a fully integrated ERP environment.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Uphold confidentiality and high ethical standards.
  • Communicate risks, issues, and opportunities proactively.
  • Partner daily with operations, engineering, maintenance, and site leadership.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Ability to work onsite full‑time in the United States.
  • Demonstrated stability and long‑term commitment in prior roles.
  • Experience with internal controls and SOX‑related processes.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (modeling, analytics, complex functions)
  • Hands‑on ERP implementation experience in an operational environment.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, including tax and transfer pricing concepts.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar systems, with ability to transition to ERP.
  • 5+ years of financial leadership in mining, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong accounting foundation including financial reporting, cost accounting, and FP&A.

Preferred Skills:

  • CPA (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in a public company environment.
  • Experience supporting capital projects or large‑scale operational expansions.
  • Exposure to construction project accounting, agile/lean practices, or mining operations.
