Our client is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join its Waterloo team. Operating since 1968 with multiple locations across the state, this company offers a stable, team‑oriented environment and a wide variety of equipment to work on. This role focuses primarily on small‑engine construction equipment, including generators, concrete saws, power buggies, pumps, plate compactors, light towers, and mixers.

Onsite | No Visa Sponsorship | No Relocation Assistance

Work Schedule: Mon–Fri 7AM–5PM; Sat 8AM–Noon OT available

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and follow all safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs, timesheets, and required documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing the work of junior mechanics when needed.
  • Provide and maintain personal hand tools required for daily tasks.
  • Reference service manuals and parts catalogs to ensure accurate repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on small‑engine construction equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and complete assigned repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Use diagnostic tools, test equipment, service manuals, and technical bulletins to troubleshoot issues.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

  • Strong safety mindset.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Must supply personal hand tools.
  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction equipment or small‑engine mechanical repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Nice‑to‑Haves:

  • CDL or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience mentoring junior mechanics.
  • Strong accuracy with service documentation.
  • Familiarity with small‑engine brands (Honda, Wacker, Multiquip, etc.)
  • Experience in a construction equipment dealership or rental environment.
