Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to support large‑scale commercial projects, including multi‑million‑dollar bids. This role blends technical estimating expertise with client interaction and strategic sales support. Candidates must be comfortable working remotely while traveling to the McHenry, IL office at least once per month.

Requirements:
Estimating & Bid Management
- Utilize estimating software to prepare proposals and bid packages.
- Perform site visits to assess scope, materials, labor, and project conditions.
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
Sales & Client Engagement
- Respond to RFQs/RFPs and follow up on active bids.
- Present proposals and support contract negotiations.
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, property managers, and building owners.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth handoff from estimating to project execution.
Project & Market Insight
- Attend pre‑bid meetings and job walks as needed.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor pricing, and market conditions.
- Provide recommendations to improve bid strategy and win rates.
Qualifications/Must-Haves:
- Strong communication, negotiation, and client‑facing skills.
- Ability to travel to job sites and to the McHenry, IL office monthly.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- 5–10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating (roofing or architectural metal strongly preferred)
- Proven experience bidding large‑scale commercial projects, including multi‑million‑dollar contracts.
- Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built‑up, metal, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience (5–10 years in commercial construction estimating and sales) may substitute for a degree.
