Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support a large, fast‑paced construction operation by delivering full‑scope HR services across employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, benefits, and culture initiatives. This role is highly visible, working directly with employees, supervisors, and leadership to support a People‑First culture and ensure HR programs operate smoothly and in compliance with California employment regulations.

Requirements:

  • Perform additional HR projects and duties as assigned.
  • Participate in integration activities for acquisitions or business expansions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Support a People‑First culture by promoting core values, employee engagement, and a safe, inclusive work environment.
  • Provide day‑to‑day HR support including employee file management, policy guidance, benefits questions, and HR documentation.
  • Manage full‑cycle recruiting: job postings, screening, interviews, pre‑employment checks, onboarding, and exit interviews.
  • Assist with HR compliance including EEO‑1, VETS‑100, labor law postings, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support employee relations by guiding supervisors and employees on policies, procedures, and basic conflict resolutions.
  • Partner with safety teams to reinforce a safety‑first culture and ensure HR processes align with safety initiatives.
  • Assist with compensation processes, annual reviews, job descriptions, and salary administration.
  • Support culture and organizational development initiatives, including employee surveys and engagement programs.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Associate degree or equivalent HR experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work onsite and engage directly with employees and supervisors.
  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in construction or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law, HR compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience supporting HR in a construction, construction materials, or field‑based workforce environment.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience with Smartsheet or similar workflow tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • HR certifications (SHRM‑CP, PHR, SHRM‑SCP, SPHR, PHRca)
  • Experience with HRIS/ERP systems (e.g., UKG, JD Edwards)
  • Experience working in a unionized environment or with collective bargaining agreements.
