Our client is seeking a Senior AS400/iSeries COBOL Developer to support and enhance mission‑critical mid‑range applications. This role requires deep hands‑on experience with COBOL/400, ILE, CLLE, SQL, and DB2400, along with strong knowledge of ACMS/MOM. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working in complex legacy environments and can lead development efforts in an onshore/offshore model.

Contract Duration: 6 months | W2

Location: Onsite (Only local candidates will be considered)

Requirements:

  • Lead and mentor team members in an onshore/offshore delivery model.
  • Optimize and fine‑tune existing applications for performance and reliability.
  • Support the development of technical roadmaps and modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for requirement clarification and solution discussions.
  • Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into robust solutions.
  • Perform hands‑on development using COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, CLLE, SQL, and related AS400/iSeries technologies.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to refine requirements and propose solutions.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Experience working with ACMS/MOM.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in enterprise‑scale environments.
  • 10+ years of hands‑on development experience with AS400/iSeries.
  • Strong proficiency in: COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, CLLE, SQL, DB2400.
  • Ability to lead development efforts and guide junior team members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Background in large enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience leading teams in an onshore/offshore model.

Work Environment:

  • Full onsite schedule in Schaumburg, IL.
  • Collaborative team environment with continuous integration and improvement focus.
  • Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance; relocation is not supported.
