Assistant Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in veterinary care, strong technical skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

This role supports our veterinarians and licensed technicians with daily patient care, diagnostics, treatments, and client communication.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Perform animal handling and restraint for exams, diagnostics, and medical care
• Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
• Collect samples (fecal, urine, ear swabs, blood if trained)
• Run or assist with basic diagnostics (fecal, SNAP tests, urinalysis, etc.)
• Perform nail trims, anal gland expressions, and other approved patient care tasks
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the clinic
• Assist with inventory, restocking, and preparing supplies
• Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, discharge instructions, and medication administration
• Support front desk tasks as needed (phone calls, scheduling, payments) to ensure smooth clinic flow

Requirements

• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or assistant/technician role strongly preferred
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology
• Competence in handling and restraining animals safely and compassionately
• Familiarity with basic diagnostics and patient care tasks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask in a busy, team-oriented environment
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to excellent patient care
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Comfort using computer systems, multi-line phones, and office equipment

Pay & Benefits

Pay: $17-$20 per hour, based on experience and skill level
