About the job Technician - Fabricator
Job Purpose:
The Technician – Fabricator is responsible for carrying out metal fabrication, welding, cutting, and structural repair works on vehicles and equipment. The role supports body repairs, modifications, and custom fabrication to ensure vehicles meet safety, quality, and OEM standards.
Key Accountabilities:
A. Fabrication & Welding Works
Perform metal fabrication works including cutting, bending, shaping, and welding.
Carry out MIG, TIG, ARC, and gas welding as required.
Fabricate and repair vehicle body structures, chassis components, brackets, panels, and frames.
Perform structural repairs on accident-damaged vehicles and equipment.
B. Body & Structural Repairs
Repair and reinforce damaged panels, frames, and sub-structures.
Align body structures and ensure dimensional accuracy.
Assist bodyshop technicians in preparing vehicles for painting.
Ensure proper finishing of fabricated parts before paint application.
C. Equipment & Tool Usage
Use fabrication tools safely (grinders, cutters, welding machines, presses).
Ensure correct usage of special tools and measuring equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of fabrication work area.
D. Quality & Safety Compliance
Ensure all fabrication works meet OEM, safety, and quality standards.
Follow HSSE procedures during welding and fabrication activities.
Inspect completed jobs to ensure strength, durability, and proper fitment.
Report any defects or safety concerns immediately.
E. Workshop Coordination
Coordinate with Estimators, Supervisors, and Service Advisors on job requirements.
Follow job cards, drawings, and repair instructions accurately.
Complete jobs within standard repair time and productivity targets.
Support workshop productivity and turnaround time (TAT).

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
3–5 years of experience as a Fabricator in automotive or heavy vehicle workshops.
Strong knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, ARC).
Ability to read fabrication drawings and job instructions.
Experience with body repair and structural alignment.
Good understanding of workshop safety standards.
Education
Technical Certificate or Diploma in Fabrication / Welding / Mechanical field.
Welding certification is an advantage.
