About the job Jira Specialist
Jira Expert (Part-Time)
Design and build a cross-project Jira Plan — structuring epics across multiple projects to track dependencies and risks — for a U.S.-based team looking to gain clear, centralized visibility into how their projects connect.
Part-Time · Remote LATAM | Based in LATAM | English B2+ | Mid–Senior Level | Jira / Jira Plans (Advanced Roadmaps) Expert
ABOUT THE ROLE
One of Committed Staff's U.S.-based clients is looking for a Jira expert to join on a part-time basis to design and set up a cross-project Jira Plan. The company runs several projects at once and currently lacks a centralized way to see how epics across those projects relate to each other, where dependencies exist, and where risks might surface. The goal is to build a Jira Plan that structures epics across projects, maps dependencies between them, and gives leadership clear visibility into timelines and risk — without needing to jump between individual project boards.
Built to Connect the Dots Across Projects: This isn't about administering a single Jira board — it's about designing the structure that lets multiple projects talk to each other. You'll need a strong grasp of Jira Plans (Advanced Roadmaps), epic hierarchies, and cross-project dependency mapping to turn scattered project data into one clear, trackable view.
WORK SETUP
Location: Remote · LATAM
Commitment: Part-Time
Language: English B2+
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cross-Project Jira Plan Setup: Design and configure a Jira Plan (Advanced Roadmaps) that pulls in epics from multiple projects into a single, unified view.
Epic Structuring: Organize and standardize epics across projects so they're structured consistently and can be tracked side by side.
Dependency Mapping: Identify and configure dependencies between epics and issues across different projects, making blockers and hand-offs visible.
Risk Tracking: Build a structure to flag and track risks at the epic and cross-project level, so issues surface before they impact timelines.
Workflow & Field Configuration: Adjust workflows, custom fields, and issue types as needed to support consistent tracking across all projects included in the Plan.
Stakeholder Alignment: Work with project leads and stakeholders in English to understand how projects relate, and translate that into the Jira Plan structure.
TECHNICAL STACK
Required: Jira, Jira Plans / Advanced Roadmaps, Jira Administration (workflows, issue types, custom fields, permissions)
Nice to have: Confluence, Jira Automation Rules, Portfolio / PPM Reporting
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Proven experience configuring and administering Jira, including epics, workflows, and issue hierarchies.
- Hands-on experience building Jira Plans (Advanced Roadmaps) across multiple projects.
- Understanding of how to map and track dependencies and risks between epics in different projects.
- English B2 or higher — able to work directly with U.S.-based stakeholders to gather requirements and explain the Plan's structure.
- Comfortable working independently and part-time, delivering a defined setup project with minimal supervision.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Jira Automation rules or Confluence documentation.
- Background in project or program management (PMO, PMP, or similar).
- Prior experience setting up multi-project or portfolio-level tracking for a U.S.-based company.
YOU'RE THE RIGHT FIT IF YOU ARE
A systems thinker: You don't just see one project — you see how projects interact, where handoffs happen, and where risk hides between the cracks.
A true Jira power user: You know Jira Plans, epics, and workflows well enough to build structure from scratch, not just follow an existing template.
Comfortable with ambiguity: There isn't a fixed playbook here — you'll need to ask the right questions to understand how the client's projects actually relate.
Efficient with part-time hours: You can prioritize and deliver a focused, high-impact setup without needing full-time hours to get it right.
A clear communicator: You can explain a complex structure like a cross-project Plan in simple terms to stakeholders who may not be Jira experts.
