Construction Cost Estimator

Support the bidding process on active and upcoming electrical construction projects — from material and labor takeoffs to complete, well-organized bid packages — working directly with a U.S.-based electrical contractor.

Full-Time · Remote LATAM | Based in LATAM | English B2+ | Mid Level | Electrical Estimating Background

ABOUT THE ROLE

One of Committed Staff's U.S.-based electrical contractor clients is looking for a Cost Estimator to join their team and support the bidding process on active and upcoming electrical construction projects. You'll work directly with the project and preconstruction team, performing material and labor takeoffs, pricing scopes of work, and putting together clear, well-organized estimates and bid packages. The client is building out this function and is open to training the right person on their specific processes and tools, so what matters most is a solid foundation in electrical estimating and the ability to learn and improve over time.

A Role That Grows With the Team: The client is actively refining their estimating process and is looking for someone who can grow into it — not just execute a fixed checklist. You'll be trained on their specific standards and workflows, and as the process matures, so will your ownership of it.

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Experience preparing cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
  • Comfortable performing material and labor takeoffs from plans.
  • English B2 or higher — daily written and verbal communication with the U.S. team and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills — able to manage multiple active bids and deadlines at once.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with any of Accubid, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or Excel — please indicate which tools you're comfortable with.
  • Background or studies in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working remotely with a U.S.-based electrical contractor.

YOU'RE THE RIGHT FIT IF YOU ARE

Detail-oriented with numbers: A missed quantity or a misread spec can throw off an entire bid. You double-check your work and catch what others miss.

Comfortable reading plans: You can look at an electrical drawing and understand what it's actually asking for, not just count symbols.

Adaptable with tools: Whether it's Accubid, PlanSwift, or a spreadsheet built in-house, you pick up new estimating tools and processes quickly.

Deadline-driven: Bids have hard due dates. You manage your time to get accurate estimates out the door, not just fast ones.

Coachable and improvement-minded: You're open to learning the client's specific standards and refining your process as their estimating function grows.
