Senior Full Stack Developer – React Native & AI

Fully Remote | Independent Contractor | USD Compensation | Direct Collaboration with a US-Based Client

About the Role

Our client is a US-based InsurTech company that provides GPS/telematics tracking solutions, giving policyholders real-time visibility into their vehicles' location in the event of theft, accidents, or other incidents. We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to build and maintain their mobile and web tracking platform, integrate AI-powered capabilities into the product, and support the growth of a small, high-performing engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Ownership: Own end-to-end development of the real-time vehicle tracking platform across iOS, Android, and Web, ensuring reliable, low-latency delivery of location data.
• AI Integration: Design and build AI-powered analytics and real-time insights using LLMs (GPT, Claude, and similar) to enrich location data, detect anomalies, and surface actionable alerts during incidents.
• Full Stack Development: Build and maintain features across the stack using React Native (Expo), Node.js, TypeScript, and Firebase.
• Team Mentorship: Support junior developers on the team through code reviews, pairing, and hands-on guidance, helping maintain high production standards.

• 5+ years of professional full stack development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in React Native (Expo) for cross-platform mobile apps.
• Solid backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Practical experience with Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions, Realtime Database).
• Proven experience integrating LLMs/AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, etc.) into production applications.
• Experience with real-time data, location-based, or IoT/telematics systems is highly valued.
• Prior experience mentoring or technically leading junior developers.
• Strong English communication skills for daily collaboration with a US-based team.
• Comfortable working as an independent contractor within a fully remote, distributed team.
• Background in InsurTech, fleet management, telematics, or IoT products.
• Experience with WebSockets or other real-time streaming architectures.
• Familiarity with RAG pipelines, vector databases, or AI agent orchestration (LangChain, n8n).
