About the job D365 F&O Developer (X++)
Coder Trove is looking for an experienced Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Developer to join our team in a long-term, full-time role.
You will develop, enhance, and support D365 F&O solutions across ongoing client projects, including customisations, integrations, migrations, and technical improvements.
We ideally seek someone with experience in both AX 2012 and D365 F&O, particularly AX 2012 D365 F&O migration or modernisation. However, candidates with strong D365 F&O and X++ experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Customisation
Develop D365 F&O customisations using X++, extensions, event handlers, and Chain of Command (CoC).
Build or enhance tables, forms, classes, batch jobs, and data entities based on approved Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and Technical Designs.
Refactor or remediate legacy AX 2012 code to align with D365 F&O best practices where required.
Ensure all development is upgrade-safe and avoids over-layering.
Integrations & Data
Develop and support integrations using Data Management Framework (DMF), file-based integrations, or OData.
Build and maintain data entities to support integrations and migration.
Support data load, validation, and defect resolution during test cycles.
DevOps & Delivery
Work within established Azure DevOps repositories and branching strategies.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and follow defined build and release processes.
Participate in code reviews and address technical debt or quality findings.
Testing & Defect Resolution
Perform unit and developer testing for delivered components.
Support SIT and UAT defect resolution within agreed SLAs.
Assist with production fixes if required during the engagement.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with on-shore technical and functional leads.
Provide daily progress updates and raise risks early.
Ensure all work is documented and handed over prior to contract completion.
Key Deliverables
Agreed development backlog completed to acceptance criteria
All custom code checked in, reviewed, and deployed via pipeline
No critical or high-severity defects attributable to delivered code
Technical documentation updated for all custom components
Clean handover to on-shore or BAU support teams
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
Advanced X++ development capability.
Proven experience with extensions, CoC, and event-driven patterns.
Solid understanding of DMF, data entities, and integration patterns.
Experience working with Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Boards).
Experience
4+ years as a Dynamics AX / D365 F&O Developer.
Prior experience working in off-shore delivery models.
Experience supporting AX 2012 D365 F&O migrations or major upgrades.
Ability to deliver against tight timelines with minimal supervision.
Ability to work with locally hosted D365 F&O VM or UDE.

Strong written communication skills for remote collaboration.
Disciplined approach to quality, documentation, and handover.
Desirable
Experience working with Australian or APAC-based delivery teams.
Exposure to Finance, AR/AP, or Operations modules.
Familiarity with Azure integration services or Power Platform (non-essential).
