IP Core & Transmission Engineer
Job Description:
Key Responsibility Areas:
Technical
Responsible for the national IP Core
o Physical infrastructure around the country at our main peering points mainly the 3 Teraco’s
o Configuration and management of the Core IP equipment
o Manage and secure all IP Peering and Peering policies
o Capacity and Route optimization management
o Manage and lead WISP integration onto the centralized IP Core
· Transmission network of the Company
o Build, manage and operate national transmission network based on MPLS
o Optimize and manage route and traffic flows
o Ensure redundancy and service availability SLA’s are met with our WISP’s
o Manage and lead WISP integration onto the National Transmission network
· Responsible for the management and security of the Company IP Space
· Support and manage the Company’s shared service infrastructure at our aggregation points
· Manage WISP resources to complete and report on Network
· Define, test and implement in conjunction with WISP best practices for Routing policies
· Lead and assist with the development and implementation of standardized best practices
· Support the WISP with their internal network deployments
· Communications and support to our WISPs.
Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years ISP / SP experience
· CCNA / CCDP / CCNP or other certifications advantages
· Expert proficiency in working on Mikrotik Routers and Switches
· Mikrotik MPLS deployment experience would be advantageous
· Project and Project management experience
· Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
· English and Afrikaans proficiency
· Expert proficiency in Routing Protocols both internal and external (OSPF / BGP / ISIS etc.)
· Expert proficiency in L2 switching
· Proficiency Mac OS X would be a big win
· Experience with Arista Equipment would be advantageous
· Experience with Juniper Equipment would be advantageous
