Job Description: National Head RF Division: Infrastructure Reports to: National Head RF will report directly to the CTO Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities: • Management: o Need to develop and maintain good relationships with the relevant manufacturers and suppliers, and to ensure that the needed products and related stock levels are available to the group. o Manage and lead all training and skills transfer initiatives, in collaboration with the Academy of Hero’s. o Ensure that the Herotel values are upheld in all aspects. • Strategy: o Has to have a clear picture of Herotel’s strategic intent is when it comes to RF. o Has to constantly be abreast of new information, innovation, ideas and technological developments when it comes to fulfilling this strategy. o Needs to be a stakeholder in the development and shaping of Herotel’s RF strategy. • Standards and Performance: o Is responsible to drive and document the standardisation of all RF related components in Herotel. o Needs to ensure that standardisation is done on a collaborative basis by accumulating the best of all practices in the group. o Complementary to this needs to create a culture of continuous improvement in all the business units, and a recognition system for those that contribute to improvements. o Needs to develop training interventions that will facilitate the knowledge and skills transfer of these standards and to every WISP. o Needs to identify an RF champion in every WISP, in collaboration with NGM and GMs, to ensure that standards are implemented and upheld locally, and that continual improvement initiatives are passed up the ladder to be incorporated into the national standard. o Although National head RF is not directly responsible for implementation, he is responsible to ensure that audits are done to provide feedback to NGM and local GM on each WISP’s RF performance. • Planning and Design: o Needs to drive and document the development of a national RF planning and design framework that every WISP can use in the planning and design of every new deployment, and in maintaining existing deployments. o Needs to identify the various RF technology sets to use in the group, with the different product classes on offer. o Needs to lead an RF committee for the purpose of evaluating each new RF project and the feasibility thereof for Herotel. Commercial and Finance will both have seats on this committee to ensure that commercials and finance are in line with group strategy. o Needs to collaborate with National Head: Core and Transmission to ensure all RF deployments and technologies integrate with the larger Herotel Network plan. • Risk Management: o To identify the RF related risks in Herotel and develop plans to mitigate these risk, in collaboration with the NGM, the relevant GMs, CCO and CTO. Requirements: • Needs to fully understand the ISM band technologies for PtMP access, know the different product’s strengths, and be able to implement correct products in correct environments. • Needs to be on the forefront of all new RF products and technologies introduced into the market. • Needs to consolidate all aspects related to RF deployments in the group, like HS structures, Power supply and RF deployments both PtP and PtMP, into presentable standards. • Be able to lead and empower RF experts in the group to implement and improve standards and processes. • Needs to be well connected with all suppliers of RF equipment. • Be involved in the constant R&D regarding new RF technologies and products. • Manage a national RF committee and national RF assets. • Be able to map out a RF strategy for the group in conjunction with the CTO. • Needs appropriate RF qualifications • 10 years practical experience in the RF industry with great RF knowledge • Management experience • Good communications skills and able to train Competencies: • Ability to analyze and define problems, prioritize work flow, multitask, meet deadlines and remain flexible • Ability to remain calm during difficult situations or in a very busy environment as well as when dealing with difficult calls / conflict situations • Professional and pleasant disposition • Strong and effective communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills are essential • Ability to use initiative, be proactive and self-motivated • Work well under pressure
