Job Responsibilities:
- Contributes thought leadership to data strategy including sequencing of engineering activities, acquisition, and determining ways to enable valuable insights to be extracted from data warehouse. Solves complex data problems to deliver insights that helps the ministry achieve goals.
- Designs, develops, optimizes, and maintains data architecture and data ingestion processes that adhere to ETL principles and business goals.
- Lead collaboration with all involved parties in migration to cloud-platform and provide thought leadership on data architecture, modeling, staging, and overall warehouse design to optimize analytics capabilities.
- Responsible for supporting the optimization of data solutions in our Azure based environment & recommending ways to improve data reliability, efficiency & quality Leads data acquisitions, migration of historic data from legacy HR systems and consolidation.
- Lead the data modeling efforts for HR & coordinate with other functional areas to establish ministry-wide standards
- Develop automated ETL processes to ingest & standardize raw data sources for analytics & reporting. Responsible for ensuring optimization of the overall ETL in addition to individual parts of it (such as stored procedures or queries) in a way that properly balances compute resources, speed, and costs.
- Contribute to development of data requirements building from Reporting and Data Science team members. Designs end to end analytical workflows, including overall architecture, capabilities, platforms, tools, and governing processes.
- Collaborates with outside teams, vendors, consultants, database administrators & data scientists on data management as well as data warehousing teams to ensure compliance with future-state enterprise data architecture.
- Implement capabilities around monitoring of production jobs, threshold alerting, logging & optimization.
- Maintain data security of sensitive HR and healthcare data.
- Communicate effectively with others to provide information about outages and issues. Optimize and tune Data environments to improve performance and reduce cost.
- Supports team members in their effort to troubleshoot and resolve data issues of various complexity. Responsible for onboarding any new DE hires by showing them our tech stack in detail, explaining our standards as mentioned above, each of the source systems and the data we are extracting from them and why, introducing them to key partners on the various teams we interact with, and anything else that is pertinent to the new hire's role and responsibilities.
Must haves:
- Bachelors degree required; preferred areas of study in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field
- 5+ years experience
- Developing scripts, stored procedures, and promoting them into production-oriented environments
- Owning, creating and making recommendations to the organization's data model
- Troubleshooting issues, maintaining, and optimizing processes and environments for data quality and integrity
- Working with cross functional teams to bring data acquisition into warehouse environments and maximize it's use and value to the business
- 2+ years experience using Microsoft Azure & Azure Data Factory or other cloud-based data platforms
- 2+ years experience using Databricks
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Workday Reporting and Workday Prism or other HCM system is preferred
- Scripting language experience with SQL and/or Python
- ETL (Extract Transfer Load) packages and tools
- Data monitoring and troubleshooting
- Data migration, consolidation and staging
- Data architecture and design
- Strong problem solving, multitasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written, verbal, and comprehension skills
Shift: Night shift
Setup:
- Training: 3 months on‑site
- Work arrangement after training: Hybrid (3x per week return to office)
