Overview:
We are looking Tax Lawyer to join our client's dynamic team. This role is ideal for a fresh law graduate, an underbar, or a newly admitted member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines with a strong interest in tax law. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced tax professionals, assisting in the analysis, compliance, and advisory services related to domestic tax law.
Responsibilities:
- Have an understanding of
domestic tax concepts.
Conduct legal research to stay informed of developments in tax law, case law, and other relevant legal sources.
- Knowledgeable in domestic tax legislation, case law and other relevant regulations by analyzing, researching and applying knowledge consistently to all allocated work appropriate to level and grade. Prepares and reviews correct tax analyses and tax computations or returns relating to simple fact patterns and issues.
- Ability to use local research, software and technology tools to efficiently produce work that is technically accurate and comprehensive.
- Consistently apply risk management tools and procedures to ensure that all tax positions are well-founded and defensible.
- Displays an awareness of potential planning opportunities associated with the local tax environment by identifying and escalating them as appropriate.
- Adhere to the confidentiality policies of the firm and relevant regulatory authorities. Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.
- Displays up to date technical knowledge by attending all training to tax work where appropriate.
- Uses knowledge of tax to discuss key issues with clients, local revenue authorities and other team members, including how to assess conflicting, ambiguous or inconclusive authorities.
- Interprets and applies key tax sources in order to carry out and document the results of tax compliance and advisory work.
- Analyzes authorities and reaches conclusions relating to fact patterns and issues of moderate complexity.
- Applies knowledge of changing tax law, regulatory requirements and industry specific concerns to client engagements, identifies where they may impact a client and reflects these in their client work.
- Review the work and analysis prepared by junior staff to ensure the sufficiency and accuracy of conclusions reached. Provide guidance and feedback to help improve the quality of their work.
Qualifications:
- Law graduate or underbar from a reputable law school in the Philippines. Newly admitted members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines are also encouraged to apply
- Membership in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (preferably), or certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Accounting background is not mandatory.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues, interpret tax regulations, and draw conclusions based on legal principles and facts.
