Job Description
The Technical Solution Designer is responsible for designing and creating technical architectures and solutions that meet business needs within the digital banking ecosystem. The role involves collaborating with business stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to translate business requirements into scalable and secure technology solutions. Key deliverables include designing system architectures, creating detailed technical specifications, and ensuring the alignment of solutions with the organization's technology strategy and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end technical solutions that meet business requirements while ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Ensure that solutions align with the organization's technology stack, architecture principles, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with development teams to validate the feasibility of proposed solutions and provide technical oversight throughout the development lifecycle.
- Ensure that all designs follow the security, performance, and compliance guidelines specific to the banking industry.
- Ensure documentation of all technical designs for future reference and knowledge sharing.
- Work with stakeholders to balance business priorities with technical constraints and opportunities.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and practices to enhance technical solution designs.
- Proactively identify potential risks in the solution design and mitigate them through informed decision-making.
- Gather and analyze business and technical requirements to create detailed solution designs.
- Design system integrations, data flows, and service interfaces to support seamless operations across the banking platform.
- Develop technical specifications, including system components, data models, APIs, and security mechanisms.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, and infrastructure teams to ensure the accurate implementation of solutions.
- Conduct design reviews, ensuring consistency with architecture standards and performance requirements.
- Provide technical guidance during the solution development and deployment phases, addressing technical challenges as they arise.
- Ensure that solutions are optimized for performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on the banks technology roadmap.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. A masters degree or MBA is a plus.
Professional Certification & Licenses:
Mandatory:
- TOGAF or Certified Solution Architect (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent
Desired certifications:
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- ITIL Foundation Certification or similar IT service management certifications
Work Experience
- 8+ years of experience in IT solution design, with at least 5 years in a senior technical or solution architect role.
- Experience in the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on designing solutions that comply with regulatory and security standards.
- Hands-on experience in designing systems in cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices environments.
Mastery:
- Solution architecture, system design, and integration patterns
- Security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR)
- Cloud computing platforms and services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proficiency:
- API management and integration technologies (REST, SOAP, GraphQL)
- Microservices architecture and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Performance optimization and scalability techniques
Working Knowledge:
- DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD)
- Database design and management (SQL, NoSQL)
- Front-end and mobile application frameworks
Technical:
- Strong understanding of cloud-native solution design (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proficiency in architecture design tools (e.g., ArchiMate, UML, Enterprise Architect)
- Knowledge of security best practices in software architecture
Communication:
- Ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong negotiation and facilitation skills to balance business needs with technical constraints
Soft Skills:
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities to resolve complex design challenges
- Ability to work in a cross-functional, Agile environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
