About the job Head, Regulatory Compliance
A modern digital bank is seeking a Head of Regulatory Compliance to lead and manage the bank's compliance culture, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical standards. This role involves overseeing the banks compliance framework, anticipating, identifying, and addressing compliance and regulatory risks, and reporting to senior stakeholders. You will play a key part in mitigating risks to protect the bank from financial and reputational loss.
Responsibilities:
- Review, summarize, and distribute regulatory issuances from BSP, AMLC, and PDIC to relevant teams.
- Prepare and submit regular compliance reports to committees such as CDA, Group Compliance, PHRC, and PHMC.
- Provide regulatory advisory to business units (BUs) when requested or required, ensuring they understand and adhere to compliance requirements.
- Monitor and ensure the timely submission of required reports to BSP, AMLC, and PDIC.
- Coordinate communication with BSP, SEC, or PDIC on behalf of the Compliance Officer, particularly during their absence or incapacity.
- Lead and oversee compliance reviews and initiatives as outlined in the Compliance Offices annual work plan.
- Manage and supervise the Regulatory Compliance Manager, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the team.
- Oversee the handling of materials, documents, meetings, and other related work during regulatory examinations, including BSP visitation and thematic reviews.
- Track the status of business units responses to BSPs AREF and ROE, ensuring appropriate actions are taken in coordination with other units.
- Step in for the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) when needed, assuming their responsibilities during absence, leave, or vacancy.
- Represent the Compliance Office in internal meetings, as well as in external events or seminars, to stay informed on regulatory updates and compliance trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 5-8 years of leadership role experience in banking, with a focus on general or regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of banking products, services, and relevant laws and regulations in the Philippines.
- In-depth understanding of the regulatory environment in the Philippines.
- Ability to leverage regulatory, political, and business networks to influence the industry and regulatory landscape.
- At least 2 direct experiences handling BSP visitations or examinations of the bank
