Summary:
A leading financial institution is seeking a Director of Risk to lead the Operations Risk Governance and Control agenda across 10 Asia markets. This role drives the implementation of control frameworks and ensures strong risk governance through oversight of RCSAs, Control Testing, Audit preparations, and gap remediation. The Director will serve as a subject matter expert and strategic partner, guiding emerging risks and control improvements across multiple markets and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and oversee the Operations Controls Governance frameworks across the region.
- Conduct walkthroughs with individual markets alongside management and subject matter experts.
- Perform gap analysis to assess the current state of operational controls and identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate risk and control project activities, promote best practices, and share intelligence such as emerging fraud trends.
- Guide markets in closing control gaps and implementing effective control frameworks in collaboration with Line 1A, Line 2, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead and support core operational risk activities, including RCSAs, Control Testing, and Audit preparations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Accounting, Finance, or Risk Management.
- Around 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operational risk management, with exposure to insurance operations strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience in Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA), Control Testing, and Audit preparations.
- Solid understanding of core insurance operational processes, including operations controls and risk governance frameworks.
- Experience working across multiple Asia markets, engaging with regional stakeholders at Line 1A and Line 2 levels.
- Proven ability to analyze control gaps, conduct deep dives into complex processes, and implement effective control measures.
- Strong organizational, implementation, and time management skills, with experience handling a team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of articulating technical risk concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Visio, Access, Power BI, or SQL is an advantage.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and adept at balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution.
Work Setup: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Schedule: Mid-shift (open to occasional night calls)
