Role: The Communications Manager will report directly to the President. The role leads and coordinates communications for the organization, including relevant affiliated entities and in alignment with corporate messages and standards, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely communications across all key stakeholders.

The role provides strategic counsel to mine site management to ensure compliance with communications-related requirements, particularly through the development and implementation of information, education and communication (IEC) programs and community relations communications. It oversees internal communications alignment across company and affiliated entities, manages external communications, media relations, and PR agency/related contracts, and supports CSR communications and government relations communications for permits and other applicable government documents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with and provide advice to the mine site management to ensure that the organization is compliant on communications-related requirements, particularly in the preparation and implementation of an information, education and communication program.
  • Provide advice on community relations communications requirements and help in capability-building training.
  • Provide guidance on the internal communications of organization and its affiliates under the company Umbrella Agreement.
  • Manage all external communications related to PR requirements. If needed, act as first-line spokesperson for the company.
  • Manage media relations, the PR agency contract and other PR-related contracts.
  • Work with mine site management on CSR communications and implementation.
  • Work with compliance and legal teams on government relations for permits and other applicable government documents.
  • Liaise with the communications teams of all affiliated entities under the company Umbrella Agreement.
  • Perform other duties and specific tasks that the Company, through its President, may require.
  • Liaise frequently/weekly with the Corporate Communications team based in Vancouver to ensure communications are consistent with corporate messages and standards.
  • Contribute written updates to be shared at the weekly GR/IR/Comms meeting, to brief the Corporate team and CEO on all matters relating to PR initiatives and issues at company.
  • Contribute content and updates for use on company's social media channels.
  • Maintain and manage all content on platforms and systems relating to internal and external communications, such as websites, intranets, asset management libraries.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The safety and environmental aspects related to this position include (but not limited to):

  • Complete all required site and area-specific inductions and comply with OHSE, environmental, security, and visitor/access requirements when working on site or in field locations.
  • Actively participate in the implementation and continual improvement of the company Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) Management System and comply with relevant procedures when supporting site activities and stakeholder engagements.
  • Plan and conduct communications activities (community meetings, media visits, filming/photography, site tours, events, and travel) with appropriate risk controls in coordination with OHSE/Security and ensure communications suppliers/contractors and visitors follow required safety standards and PPE rules.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and good housekeeping for communications work areas and equipment, including safe storage/handling of cameras/equipment and safe event setup and tear-down.
  • Exercise duty of care by stopping work when unsafe conditions are identified, escalating concerns through proper channels, and promoting safe behaviors during stakeholder engagements and site-related activities.
  • Report all unsafe acts/conditions, incidents, injuries, near misses, and property/equipment damage promptly through the required reporting channels and to the appropriate supervisor/department.
  • During incidents or emergencies, support accurate and approved communications by coordinating with management, OHSE, Security, and Legal, and ensure public-facing information does not compromise safety, security, investigations, or regulatory reporting; follow site environmental controls during field work to minimize environmental impacts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or stakeholder/community relations communications.
  • Experience in mining, exploration, energy, infrastructure, or other regulated/high-stake environments is highly advantageous.
  • Strategic Communications: Ability to develop and implement communication strategies and IEC programs aligned with operational, CSR, compliance, and exploration priorities.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills (speeches, press statements, advisories, Q&A, briefing notes, reports).
  • Proven ability to manage media relations, support spokesperson engagements, and handle sensitive issues with sound judgment.
  • Strong capability in community relations communications, facilitation, and capability-building support for site teams.
  • Working knowledge of coordinating communications related to permits, regulatory requirements, and government documentation in partnership with compliance and legal.
  • Experience managing PR agencies and communications-related contracts, including deliverables, budgets, and performance.
  • Ability to align and cascade key messages across company and affiliated entities, ensuring consistency and confidentiality where required.
  • Ability to support incident/issue communications in coordination with management, OHSE, legal, and other relevant teams.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills; able to work effectively with senior leaders, site teams, communities, regulators, and media.

Work Set-up: Hybrid (3 days RTO and 2 days WFH weekly)

Schedule: Dayshift

Location: Makati, but must be okay to travel to Mining site, Legazpi and other regional offices
