About the role

The Maintenance Superintendent provides strategic leadership and oversight for all maintenance activities across the facility, including fixed plant, mobile crushing units, and site infrastructure. This role is dedicated to maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and driving cost-effectiveness through continuous innovation. Leading a multidisciplinary team, the Superintendent implements industry-best practices in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure sustained operational efficiency and unwavering adherence to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, plans and schedules (Preventive, predictive and corrective) aligned with production goals and target
  • Oversee the entire maintenance department (Mechanical, Electrical, Warehouse and Projects)
  • Manage maintenance budgets, control cost and optimize spare parts and inventory and procurement processes
  • Ensure the availability, reliability and safe operation of all equipment, including Crushers, conveyors etc.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence
  • Oversee the effective management of contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance services or equipment supply
  • Recruit, Train, Mentor and develop a high performing maintenance team, including supervisors, technicians and specialists
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and accountability

About you

  • Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or a Senior Trade Qualification with equivalent experience
  • 10+ years in heavy industry (Mining/Plant), with 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record managing fixed plant (crushers/conveyors) and mobile equipment fleets
  • Advanced proficiency in CMMS (SAP, Maximo, etc.) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Expert in shutdown planning, budgeting ($1M+), and contract management
  • Deep knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regs and a safety-first leadership style
  • Skilled in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies
