FINANCE AUTOMATION SPECIALIST

Job Overview
The Finance Enablement function is establishing a Center of Excellence (CoE) to design, implement, and scale automation solutions using authorized analytics and automation tools (e.g., Alteryx). This role supports finance transformation initiatives, including faster close programs and operational efficiency improvements.
The Finance Automation Specialist will be responsible for building and leading a regional automation CoE, driving efficiency across finance-related functions by designing and implementing in-house automation solutions, reducing dependency on external vendors or consultants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and analyze end-to-end processes across finance operations, reporting, actuarial, and related teams; lead the design and implementation of automation solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy (e.g., manual journal entries, reconciliations, data consolidation, allocations, and actuarial models).
  • Partner closely with finance, actuarial, and ALM stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and process improvement initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced automation workflows to streamline financial operations, enabling time savings, operational efficiency, and accelerated financial close cycles.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship on automation best practices and advanced techniques; conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance automation capabilities across finance-related teams.
  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure data governance, system integration, and platform stability; serve as a support lead for automation solutions to ensure reliable ongoing operations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all automation workflows, standards, and processes.
  • Establish intake and prioritization processes for automation requests, including cost-benefit analysis.
  • Develop dashboards and metrics to track and report the impact of automation initiatives on finance efficiency and close timelines.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in IT, data, or automation roles, including at least 2 years in a leadership or lead capacity.
  • Strong expertise in data analytics, ETL processes, and database concepts.
  • Hands-on proficiency with automation and analytics platforms (e.g., Alteryx Designer or equivalent tools).
  • Solid understanding of financial processes, reporting structures, and data models.
  • Experience managing projects, preferably within an Agile or iterative delivery environment.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to work directly with finance, actuarial, and ALM stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve operational requests.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
