Job Summary
CNS Group is hiring an experienced and highly analytical Internal Auditor to strengthen internal controls, risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance within a financial services environment. This role requires a professional who can look beyond the numbers—identifying risks, evaluating controls, assessing both financial and IT environments, and providing practical recommendations that strengthen the organization. The successful candidate will conduct risk-based audits, monitor regulatory compliance, support investigations, and provide Senior Management, the Audit Committee, and the Board with clear and independent insights for informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement risk-based annual internal audit plans aligned with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and key business risks.
- Conduct comprehensive audits across departments and operational units to assess compliance with SOPs, policies, procedures, and established internal controls.
- Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls and recommend practical improvements to strengthen risk management, governance, and operational efficiency.
- Assess organizational compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BOT) regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Protection requirements, and other applicable financial regulations.
- Conduct financial, operational, compliance, account, and IT-related audits as required.
- Lead special audits, reviews, and investigations as directed by Senior Management, the Audit Committee, or the Board of Directors.
- Identify control weaknesses, regulatory gaps, operational risks, and potential areas of financial or operational exposure.
- Prepare comprehensive internal audit reports outlining findings, risk assessments, recommendations, and required corrective actions.
- Present significant audit findings and recommendations to Senior Management, the Audit Committee, and the Board.
- Monitor outstanding audit findings and ensure agreed corrective actions are implemented within established timelines.
- Assess the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure identified risks are adequately mitigated.
- Collaborate with external auditors and Bank of Tanzania examiners during regulatory reviews and external audit exercises.
- Coordinate the timely provision of required audit information, documentation, records, and supporting evidence.
- Provide independent advisory support to management on internal controls, policies, procedures, governance, compliance, and risk-management matters.
- Review business processes and recommend improvements that enhance operational efficiency and accountability.
- Develop, review, and continuously improve internal audit policies, procedures, methodologies, and working practices.
- Strengthen the use of data analytics and technology within internal audit activities.
- Maintain appropriate audit documentation and working papers to support audit conclusions and recommendations.
- Stay informed of changes in BOT regulations, AML requirements, financial-sector regulations, and relevant internal audit standards and best practices.
- Maintain independence, confidentiality, professional judgment, and integrity throughout all audit activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA (T), ACCA, CIA, or an equivalent recognized accounting/auditing qualification is required.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in internal auditing, risk management, or compliance, preferably within the financial sector.
- Demonstrated experience in both Account Auditing and IT Auditing.
- Strong practical knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, audit planning, audit execution, and audit reporting.
- Strong understanding of Bank of Tanzania regulations and applicable requirements within the financial services sector.
- Good knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, Customer Protection requirements, and other relevant financial laws and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to develop and execute risk-based audit strategies and plans.
- Experience assessing financial, operational, compliance, and technology-related risks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify control weaknesses, assess their impact, and recommend practical corrective measures.
- Good understanding of corporate governance, enterprise risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and professional audit reports for Senior Management, Audit Committees, and Boards.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate audit findings to senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, objectivity, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with internal departments, external auditors, and regulators.
- Knowledge or practical experience with data analytics and technology-enabled auditing will be an added advantage.recommended
