Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to support a comprehensive technical audit of pipeline installation projects within the Oil & Gas sector. The successful candidates will be responsible for evaluating the mechanical integrity, installation quality, construction practices, and compliance of pipeline systems against applicable engineering standards, Tanzanian regulatory requirements, and international industry best practices. The role requires professionals with strong technical expertise in pipeline engineering, mechanical systems, and local regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical audits of pipeline mechanical systems, equipment installations, and associated infrastructure.
  • Review mechanical engineering designs, construction drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, technical specifications, and project documentation.
  • Assess pipeline installation activities for compliance with approved engineering designs, project specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment including valves, pig launchers and receivers, pump stations, pressure vessels, piping systems, supports, and associated facilities.
  • Evaluate welding quality, hydrostatic testing records, mechanical completion reports, and commissioning documentation.
  • Verify compliance with Tanzanian Oil & Gas regulations, environmental requirements, and applicable international engineering standards.
  • Assess pipeline integrity management practices and identify mechanical defects, installation deficiencies, and operational risks.
  • Participate in site inspections, field verification, and technical review meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports, technical findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Instrumentation, SCADA, Cathodic Protection, HSE, and multidisciplinary audit teams.
  • Ensure all audit activities comply with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements.
  • Support the development of final audit reports and recommendations for improving pipeline safety, reliability, and operational performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Pipeline Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in pipeline construction, installation, maintenance, commissioning, or technical auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline mechanical systems, pressure equipment, valves, piping systems, rotating equipment, and pipeline facilities.
  • Good understanding of Tanzanian Oil & Gas legislation, local regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with international engineering standards including API, ASME, ISO, and other applicable pipeline codes.
  • Experience working on EPC/EPCM pipeline projects is highly desirable.
  • Ability to review engineering drawings, mechanical calculations, inspection reports, and construction documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary technical audit teams.
