Job Summary

CNS Group is hiring a skilled and proactive Senior ICT Officer to support the technology infrastructure behind a fast-paced financial services environment. The successful candidate will take a hands-on role in managing network infrastructure, Core Banking Systems (CBS), servers, cybersecurity, IT support, and technology vendors. This position requires a technically strong professional who can maintain reliable day-to-day ICT operations while strengthening system security, performance, business continuity, and compliance with applicable Bank of Tanzania (BOT) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure network capacity supports current operations and future business requirements.
  • Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, and related network infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain reliable IT and digital communication infrastructure, including wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure timely resolution of connectivity and infrastructure issues.
  • Upgrade network hardware and implement firmware updates to maintain security, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure optimal performance of external IT services.
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain the organization’s Core Banking System (CBS).
  • Monitor CBS server performance through system logs, activity tracking, and other relevant monitoring tools.
  • Manage CBS user accounts, permissions, access rights, and security configurations.
  • Diagnose and resolve CBS-related hardware and software issues.
  • Implement and document CBS patches, upgrades, and system updates while maintaining system stability and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of CBS changes, patches received, implementation status, and outcomes.
  • Install, configure, and administer Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Manage servers supporting email, printing, backups, cloud-based applications, and other critical business systems.
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policies, user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Monitor server and system performance and optimize configurations to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement automated and manual backup and restoration procedures for critical systems.
  • Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of organizational data and IT systems.
  • Implement and maintain IT security solutions, including antivirus and intrusion detection systems.
  • Ensure ICT systems comply with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including BOT standards.
  • Conduct periodic security assessments and disaster recovery drills.
  • Monitor developments in cybersecurity, database management, networking, cloud computing, and other relevant technologies.
  • Maintain and safeguard ICT documentation and ensure policies and procedures are properly documented and communicated.
  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
  • Respond promptly to ICT support requests and minimize downtime of critical systems.
  • Train employees on ICT systems, cybersecurity best practices, and applicable IT policies.
  • Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT incidents, resolutions, and recurring system issues.
  • Coordinate the procurement, installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software solutions.
  • Liaise and negotiate with ICT vendors to obtain appropriate products and services at competitive costs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate upgrades and improvements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with agreed service standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in IT systems, network, and infrastructure management.
  • Banking or financial services experience is highly preferred.
  • Proven hands-on experience in Core Banking System (CBS) administration and technical support.
  • Strong knowledge of LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, and enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with routers, switches, servers, and other networking infrastructure.
  • Good knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policies, permissions, and user-access management.
  • Good knowledge of cloud technologies, virtualization, backup systems, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PHP, or BASH, including Linux command-line administration.
  • Strong understanding of IT security, cybersecurity, data protection, intrusion detection, and system security practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable IT regulatory requirements, including Bank of Tanzania standards.
  • Strong understanding of IT service delivery, application performance monitoring, incident management, and SLA implementation.
  • Experience in IT procurement, technology deployment, and vendor management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and collaboratively within a team.
