Deputy Director of Design Hotels & Hospitality (100mil Net)

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Leadership & Direction
- Lead the design vision and creative direction for hotel & resort projects (5-star, international standards).
- Ensure design consistency, brand identity, and quality across all hospitality developments.
- Review, challenge, and approve design concepts proposed by external consultants.
- Provide design guidance and decision-making at key project milestones.
2. Design Management (Investor-Side Role)
- Oversee the full design lifecycle: concept, schematic, design development, tender, and construction stages.
- Manage and coordinate external parties: architects, interior designers, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
- Control design quality, budget alignment, and design timelines.
- Resolve design conflicts and ensure constructability without compromising design intent.
3. Project Portfolio & Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with internal departments: Development, Construction, Operation, Commercial, and Branding.
- Participate in design review meetings with international hotel operators and brand consultants.
- Support senior management in design-related strategic decisions.
4. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop the in-house design team.
- Build design management capability and best practices within the organization.
- Act as the key design authority for hospitality projects under assigned scope.
5. Authority & Decision Scope
- Final design recommendation authority before submission to Design Director / Board.
- Authority to select, evaluate, and recommend design consultants.
- Strong influence on design standards, material selection, and design budgets.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related fields.
- 15+ years of experience in hospitality design or design management.
- Proven experience in large-scale hotel / resort / mixed-use developments.
- Strong background from:
- International design consulting firms, OR
- Real estate developers / investors (hospitality projects).
- Solid understanding of international hotel brand standards.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
- Fluent English (working with international consultants & operators).
