Hedging Account Specialist
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
1. Hedge Accounting System & Process Development
- Design and develop hedge accounting workflows, policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with IFRS 9 / IAS 39.
- Support the development, testing, and implementation of hedge accounting modules within the companys accounting/ERP systems.
- Continuously review and enhance hedge accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
2. Hedge Accounting Operations
- Manage and monitor physical commodity contracts, including purchase contracts, sales contracts, price fixation mechanisms, terminal months, and delivery terms.
- Track, record, and manage commodity futures contracts from trade execution through daily margining, fair value remeasurement, roll-over, and maturity/settlement.
- Match hedged items with hedging instruments, ensuring proper alignment between physical exposures (inventory, physical contracts) and futures positions designated under Fair Value Hedge accounting.
- Perform monthly hedge accounting entries, including fair value adjustments related to inventory and physical commodity contracts.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain Management (SCM) department to understand hedging strategies and ensure timely and accurate accounting for hedging transactions.
- Improve and optimize the operational efficiency of the hedge accounting system.
- Prepare hedge accounting documentation, analyses, and reports for auditors, management, and internal stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of specialized experience in Financial Accounting, Auditing, Derivative Accounting, or Risk Management.
Knowledge Requirements
Mandatory:
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9 / IAS 39.
- Solid theoretical understanding of Hedge Accounting, including both Fair Value Hedges and Cash Flow Hedges.
- Knowledge of commodity markets, especially coffee price risk, and experience with commodity futures trading mechanisms.
Preferred:
- Experience in the development, implementation, or enhancement of hedge accounting systems.
- Practical experience in applying Fair Value Hedge Accounting.

- Ability to build, operate, and maintain complex valuation and hedge effectiveness testing models using Excel or specialized systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Team management and coordination skills.
- English: Good command of both written and spoken English.
