We are a team of practical, down-to-earth geotechnical professionals, delivering high-quality site investigation, analysis, and design advice to the construction, infrastructure, mining, and energy sectors.

As part of the Kiwa Group, we're backed by a global network of 12,000+ staff across 35+ countries.

Our Brisbane office continues to expand, and we are seeking an Associate or Principal Engineering Geologist (level dependent on experience) to strengthen our team.

We are particularly interested in experienced professionals with strong capability in ground characterisation, geotechnical interpretation, and detailed design input, particularly for underground and rock engineering projects.

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in Engineering Geology (or closely related discipline)
  • 15+ years' experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Australia
  • Strong experience in site investigation input, ground modelling, and geotechnical interpretation, including Geotechnical Interpretive Reporting (GIR)
  • Significant experience in:
    • Underground projects (mining, shafts, tunnelling)
    • Open pit mining and slope stability
    • Geohazard assessments (e.g. landslides, rockfall, natural slopes)
  • Strong background in rock mechanics and rock mass characterisation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop 3D geological / geotechnical ground models (e.g. Leapfrog, Vulcan)
  • Experience providing technical input into detailed design, including stability assessments and ground support concepts
  • Knowledge of photogrammetry and remote mapping techniques (desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with clients and project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical reporting
  • A current Australian driver's licence

What You'll Do

  • Provide key technical input to geotechnical site investigations, including scope development and interpretation of results
  • Develop and refine 3D ground models to inform design and risk assessment
  • Undertake and review geotechnical interpretation and analysis, particularly for rock and underground conditions
  • Provide detailed design input, including:
    • Tunnels and shafts
    • Open pit slopes and excavations
    • Geohazard and slope stability assessments
  • Prepare and review Geotechnical Interpretive Reports (GIRs) and other technical deliverables
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and engineering geologists
  • Engage with clients and contribute to project delivery and technical excellence

What You'll Get

  • Flexible start and finish times
  • Additional leave on your birthday
  • Regular office social events
  • A strong and supportive Brisbane-based team, with access to experienced Principals and senior staff
  • Opportunity to work on major infrastructure, mining, and energy projects
  • A collaborative and inclusive team culture that values practical solutions and technical excellence
