Junior Geotechnical Engineer - Tailings

Since starting in Perth in 2012, CMW Geosciences has expanded to 22 business units with over 350 employees across Australia and New Zealand. We are hard-working, down-to-earth, and passionate Geotech professionals, providing quality geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and design advice to the construction, infrastructure, mining and energy sectors.

Our Perth-based tailings team is looking to bring on graduate-level or junior (2 - 3 years' experience) geotechnical engineer with an interest in the geotechnical design of tailings storage facilities.

The position is available immediately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the technical team to develop, provide and promote design solutions, options and initiatives to meet client needs
  • Undertake field work including site investigations, construction phase support and site inspections.
  • Work with the senior technical team to contribute to detailed designs for projects ranging from building foundations to temporary works, infrastructure and tailings storage facilities.
  • Undertake technical and non-technical tasks and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of our work

Qualifications/Experience/Attributes

  • Qualified Geotechnical/Civil Engineer
  • Good analytical skills
  • Prior knowledge of geotechnical design software will be viewed favourably but it is not essential (Plaxis, Rocscience Slide, RSPile, Settle3, LimitState Geo etc.)
  • Experience working on tailings storage facilities is preferred but not necessary.
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A high standard of accuracy and attention to detail is a must
  • Current Aus drivers license
  • Combination of office-based and field-based work, ability to travel
