Overview

Clifton-Fine Hospital is seeking a dependable and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our Rehabilitation Services team on a Per Diem basis. This role provides flexibility while supporting patient care needs in our outpatient setting.

The PTA works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver treatment, monitor patient progress, and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy treatments following the Physical Therapist's Plan of Care (POC)
  • Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising PT
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members
  • Document all treatments and patient interactions in the EMR
  • Enter charges accurately in the EMR system
  • Review medical records to support safe and effective care
  • Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills
  • Complete required continuing education per New York State guidelines (36 hours every 3 years)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)
  • Current New York State PTA license/registration (required)
  • Outpatient experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to varying patient volumes

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work with patients with varying physical and mental health conditions
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and infectious materials
  • Ability to lift and assist patients (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Physically and mentally demanding environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and perform repetitive tasks
