Quick Rundown:
The Senior CAD Operator is responsible for guiding a team of CAD Operators in the preparation and delivery of high-quality technical drawings for plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems. This role ensures accuracy, compliance with client specifications, timely project delivery, and continuous development of team capability through training and performance management. The Senior CAD Operator also plays a key role in quality assurance, workflow coordination, and technical problem-solving across all CAD outputs.
What You'll Do:
Team Leadership & Management
Supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of CAD Operators.
Delegate tasks based on project priorities, skill levels, and workload distribution.
Monitor team performance and ensure alignment with project deadlines and quality standards.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback for improvement.
Identify training needs and provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to the team.
Project Execution & Design Oversight
Oversee the preparation of preliminary, for construction, and as-built drawings for:
Plumbing
Mechanical
Electrical
Ensure accurate application of client mark-ups into technical drawings.
Review and validate layouts to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
Ensure coordination between mechanical and electrical schematics and overall layout consistency.
Supervise the creation of 3D details and technical drawings when required.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Review all CAD outputs before submission to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and client requirements.
Maintain consistency in drafting standards, templates, and documentation practices.
Identify and resolve design inconsistencies or technical issues prior to submission.
Process Improvement & Coordination
Improve workflow efficiency and CAD production processes.
Coordinate with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical concerns.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the CAD team.
What We're Looking For:
At least 1–3 years in a senior or lead role supervising CAD teams
Strong background in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drafting.
Any degree with Architecture or Engineering
Proficient in using Autocad and Sketchup
With good communication and comprehension skills
Strong Attention to details
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, mark-ups, and technical specifications
team management skills
