Position: Registered Land Surveyor
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Duration: Full-time permanent
Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 / DOE
The licensed surveyor is responsible for managing survey projects in both public and private sectors. This role will also collaborate with civil engineers, landscape architects, and other land surveyors to assist clients in developing commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule field and office projects with support
- Produce and oversee control, boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys
- Present data to clients and prepare reports detailing legal boundaries and other relevant information
- Collaborate with project managers, crews, and government agencies when necessary
- Stay up to date on project timelines
- Provide QA/QC and peer review of surveys
- Perform staff management tasks
- Resolve complicated boundaries with minimal oversight
- Apply knowledge of survey, boundary, state, and county laws, statutes, and regulations to projects
- Generate contour maps and alignments
- Conduct project research
- Write legal descriptions for a variety of legal instruments
- Responsible for full project lifecycle, including financial objectives
- Perform additional related duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Professional Land Surveyor license in Tennessee
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Survey, Geomatics, GIS, or a related field
- 5-8+ years of office-related experience
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Broad knowledge of surveying fundamentals, principles, and equipment operations
- Effective internal and external communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient with GEOPAK, MicroStation, and OpenRoads
- Experience with LiDAR capabilities such as 3D laser scanning and point cloud registration
