Fire & Security Engineer

Job title: Fire & Security Engineer Our client will consider just a Fire Engineer if you are happy to be upskilled

Location: M25 and surrounding areas

Hours / Days: Monday to Friday 8am 5pm

Job type: Full time permanent

Salary: Circa £40,000 dependent on experience plus additional on call / overtime / call out payments

We are looking for an experienced Engineer to undertake the repair, maintenance and installation of Fire, Security and Life Safety Systems.

Responsibilities of the Fire Engineer:

  • To undertake the installation of new Fire and Security systems in accordance with manufacturers instructions, industry best practice codes and practice and legislation.
  • To issue notices and certificates required by the relevant regulations relating to fire safety.
  • To attend appointments as scheduled and instructed.
  • To adhere to British Standards when servicing, repairing, or installing.
  • To provide information to allow records and certification to be updated following service and testing.
  • To manage stock from authorised suppliers, materials required to undertake works through the approved order system
  • To take part in the on-call system to provide 24/7 emergency cover across our property portfolio.
  • To drive company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner and to ensure that the vehicle is maintained to appropriate standards
  • To ensure that vehicles operated by the Fire and Security team are operated safely and courteously and represent the company in a positive way to our residents and the public.
  • To complete all relevant training and certifications as required by regulations.
  • To maintain regular contact with the Lead Engineer and colleagues to obtain instructions and resolve working problems.
  • To record completed works and maintain an accurate record of work carried out including measurements and calculations.

Education, Training and Experience required for the Fire & Security Engineer:

  • Competency on working with and on emergency lighting fittings and circuits
  • Full and detailed understanding of BS5839 Part 1
  • Completed Units 1, 4, 5 FIA Training
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of the causes and cures of fire alarm problems, including an ability to recommend changes to practices and processes that may cause false alarms as well as changes to the fire detection and alarm system
  • Basic Electrical Safety training (ECA)
  • Relevant Health & Safety Qualification
  • Full Driving License

Knowledge and Skills required for the Fire & Security Engineer:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to record accurately all work carried out.
  • Ability to undertake Fire and Security works to a consistently high standard and in a high-pressure environment
  • Able to participate in the on-call Rota system.
  • Flexible approach to types of work required to undertake.
  • Good IT skills
  • Skilled in the use of handheld devise/tablet/computer
